July 1, 2019: The Eagle Lake City Council directed City staff to publish a notice of intent for the purpose of providing the public notice that the City of Eagle Lake and LeRay Township would be considering adopting an Orderly Annexation Agreement annexing into City limits three parcels of land identified as needed for future development not classified as agricultural and in need of municipal services, such as sewer and water.

August 5, 2019: The Eagle Lake City Council adopted Resolution 2019-23: A Joint Resolution for the Designation of an Area in Need of Orderly Annexation from LeRay Township to the City of Eagle Lake and for a Designation of an Area for Immediate Annexation Pursuant to MN Statutes Section 414.0325. Included in the resolution is a reversion clause in which all parties agree to follow the detachment process as outlined in MN Statutes Section 414.06 should the property not be developed within 36 months following the execution of the resolution. The joint resolution next will be sent to LeRay Township for their consideration and adoption. After that, the annexation will take effect within 30 days of being sent to the Office of the Municipal Boundary Adjustment if the resolution is deemed in order.

September 9, 2019: In response to feedback received from LeRay Township regarding the terms of the proposed joint resolution, a revised resolution (Resolution 2019-25) was adopted and transmitted to LeRay Township. The resolution was approved by LeRay Township on September 9, 2019.

November 21, 2019: The City of Eagle Lake received the order approving the annexation from an administrative law judge of the Office of Administrative Hearings.

March 2 through April 1, 2020: Environmental Review of Mankato Motorsports Park. The City of Eagle Lake invites the public to review the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) regarding the proposed Mankato Motorsports Park project located in the City of Eagle Lake. The project will be constructed on property currently in agricultural use, approximately 230 acres in size.

Copies of the EAW, which document the purpose and need for the project, along with the anticipated social, economic, and environmental impacts, are available for the public beginning March 2, 2020 during regular business hours at the following locations in addition to being available below on this page:
