Park Safety Enhancements Underway

The Eagle Lake City Council voted unanimously at its March 4th meeting to approve pricing obtained to install surveillance cameras at various City locations, including Lake Eagle Park.

In light of a recent gunshot complaint on the evening of March 13th in the area of Lake Eagle Park, City officials would like residents to be aware that approval was granted at the March 4th City Council meeting to install surveillance cameras at various City locations, including Lake Eagle Park, in an effort to enhance public safety. The surveillance cameras will be paid for using one-time public safety aid that was distributed to cities across the state at the end of December 2023 as part of the 2023 omnibus tax bill. The one-time public safety aid can only be used to provide public safety. The addition of surveillance cameras is intended to serve mainly as a visual deterrent for crime and make it easier for law enforcement to identify criminals. Freedom Security (a new business in Eagle Lake on Parkway Avenue) will be the contractor working on the safety enhancements.
