BOIL WATER ADVISORY AND UPDATE
The City of Eagle Lake (PWSID 1070002) issued a BOIL WATER ADVISORY during the evening of August 7, 2023. An announcement will be made once the advisory has been lifted.
The wells lost power while the water tower is offline for maintenance, which caused pressure loss in the distribution system. Once power was restored, the city increased chlorine feed, flushed the distribution system, and is testing for total coliform bacteria and chlorine residual. Testing takes 24 hours. We anticipate receiving test results on Wednesday (8/9). As soon as the test results indicate that our water is safe, the boil water advisory will be lifted and an announcement made.
Similar to when hydrants are flushed for routine maintenance, water customers may experience water that is temporarily rusty/brown because of iron and mineral deposits getting stirred up as the system regained pressure.
